DP Gachagua and Nairobi River Commisioners meets the World Resources Instriture President

Today, at Harambee House Annex, I held discussions with a team from the World Resources Institute, led by the president and CEO Ani Dasgupta, on partnership in cleaning Nairobi River and accelerating planting of seedlings towards our target of 15 billion trees by the 2032.

We explored commitment of technical and financial resources to support the Nairobi River Commission, which H.E President William Samoei Ruto has tasked to restore the glory of the river.

Further, we delved into areas of collaboration for a sustainable strategy of addressing the adverse impact of climate change on Kenya.

In line with the focus areas of the World Resources Institute, we highlighted the importance of green energy, restoration of natural resources and integrating business models into tree planting as one of the ways of boosting food security and creating more jobs.
